My E Total Fitness, which is located at The Fitness Connection in Waynesville, NC has been a very busy year!!
In the last year, the TRX body resistance workout has been an incredible experience for so many people that have scheduled workout times with myself at The Fitness Connection gym in Waynesville, NC.
It is at this time that I want to thank all of you for your hard work and motivation to keep pushing forward with your goals and for your consistency to continue to accomplish your goals.
I had not posted this information and therefore, want to inform you of my 3 TRX qualifications, which include the TRX suspension training, functional training which includes the TRX RIP trainer and the TRX cables, and group suspension training. My TRX Level Trainer II Certification with TRX was accomplished after a rigorous 2 day event in November.
TRX is for any age!! Anyone can work with the cables. Sometimes, I do adapt other ways to accomplish goals, but amazingly, most folks are able to work through a TRX total body workout which builds core, stability, flexibility and helps with balance issues.
Call me if any questions. 828-421-8566. NO OBLIGATION TO CHECK OUT THE TRX!!
My work schedule is from 7 am to 2 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Wednesday my work schedule is 8 am until no later than 6 pm. Friday is from 8 am to 1 pm.
Thinking of all of my friends and family today. Sincerely hoping that all of you are safe after this snow episode.. Good News!! on Corbin Shady Lane, I was able to get out this am after the driveway was plowed late last evening. Therefore, Tony and I will be back to The Fitness Connection bright and early Monday morning!! If you have not met Tony (see picture), he is in regular attendance at the gym… Tony, will greet you and give all of the cuddles that you want!!
MORE Good News: The Fitness Connection is adding 2 more TRX suspension cables, and my thanks to Kim May, owner, for the additional cables. I certainly do appreciate all of her support and encouragement.. The additional cables should be arriving any day. Now, a total of 5 cables will be available to assist with complete workouts! I am really excited and I can now accommodate up to 3 folks at one time, which is considered a class/group…….
Good News: I am fully scheduled with only a few times slots open due to some being away for a few months, etc. Therefore, if anyone wants to see what the cables are all about and if interested, please do call me at 421-8566, and I will be happy to do an assessment and then depending on your schedule and mine will be the determining factor. My working hours at the gym are: Monday and Wednesday, 7 am to 6 pm., Tuesday and Thursday, 7 am to 2 pm., Friday, 8 am to 12 noon.

Winter is here!! Soups are so good this time of year. Below is a Split Pea Soup recipe that many folks have requested through the past several years.
I want to share it with my friends and family. It takes only minutes to put together after the peas are soaked.
2 cups dried split peas
3 stalks celery
1 medium potato (optional: for thickening soup)
1 medium onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder ( may crush garlic bulbs)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne (to taste)
1 teaspoon Celtic or Himalayan salt (to taste)
1/2 parsley flakes
2 quarts soup stock ( may use half filtered water and soup stock or use filtered water)
Soak peas overnight in distilled water. Drain, rinse and set aside. Shred carrots, chop or dice onion and celery, and cube potato. Saute onion and spices in distilled water. Add salt, soaked peas, and vegetable stock or other choice. Bring to boil and simmer for one hour. Add potatoes (optional), carrots and celery. Simmer for an additional hour or until peas have reached a soft consistency. A slow cooker will work. Stir often to prevent sticking.
The optional step is to put the soup in a blender and now the soup is a creamy soup… Enjoy
Be safe this winter!!

Waynesville, NC area, Ingles, has a very fresh selection of collard greens!! I want to share how I learned to cook these delicious greens. In Minnesota, where I lived many years, I never cooked nor ate collards.. So, after moving to NC over 31 years ago, I was TOLD that collard greens were to be eaten on New Years Day!!! After a few years in NC, I met a southern lady in the Saluda area that raised a very large field of greens every year. I mentioned that I needed help in cooking greens. Well, her answer was to use a pressure cooker. I had purchased a Kuhn Rikon a few years previously and now found another use for my cooker.
Minnesota friends, you can do this!! Clean, cut up the collards and can actually use of the stems due to the pressure cooking process. You will need a steamer basket. Add a cup of water to the cooker and put the collards in the basket and then add a few red pepper flakes on top of the greens. Get the pressure up to the 2nd red mark or high pressure. Cook at this pressure point for 8-10 minutes. Be sure to time this… Take the cooker to the sink and run cook water on the lid to quickly reduce the pressure. Wahoo!!! the collards are done!!
The next step is to remove some of the water in the bottom of the pot to a pan and remove the collards to this pan. Flavor this with a tsp of sugar and vinegar and reheat on very low temp. Enjoy…
Happy New Years to all of you!!
Change the Way you Train! My specialty is the TRX suspension training which means Total body Resistance Exercise. Bodyweight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. I am excited to share with you some of the benefits of this revolutionary methodology body weight exercise. Do you need more power, or need to gain strength, or need to improve flexibility and balance, and or prevent injuries?
If you answered yes to just one of the above, the TRX will help you deliver a fast, effective total-body workout, and help build a rock-solid core throughout the whole body workout. I will plan a personal workout just for you depending on what your goals are.
The studio picture shows the TRX suspension training straps hanging in the far corner. I can help up to 3 people and still plan a personal workout for each one.
I have just attended my 3rd TRX suspension training 8 hour session June 8th, 2015 with one of the company’s Master Trainers. I am a qualified TRX fitness trainer.
I also use free weights if that is a choice of exercise as well as other exercise equipment in addition to the TRX suspension training system.
A new component that is also a TRX training tool for resistance workouts, is called the RIP trainer.
I am also a registered nurse. I am now working as a Certified Personal Trainer at The Fitness Connection Personal Training Studio in Waynesville, NC.
